Careers

Exicure is developing a new class of immunomodulatory and gene silencing drugs against validated targets, addressing diseases from inflammatory disorders to oncology. We strive to unlock the potential of nucleic acid therapeutics with our 3-dimensional, spherical nucleic acid (SNA™) constructs. SNA constructs have the potential to overcome one of the most difficult obstacles to nucleic acid therapeutics: safe and effective delivery into cells and tissues.

We seek employees who have the passion to help us drive this innovative technology forward to the patients in need and thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere. We are always interested in receiving resumes from highly skilled and experienced candidates. Please send your resume and cover letter to: careers at exicuretx dot com.

Currently, we are hiring for the following positions:

Oligonucleotide Chemist

Candidates applying for this oligonucleotide chemistry position should have a PhD in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry or a related subject area. The roles and responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Preparation and characterization of oligonucleotides, nucleic acid monomers, and SNAs in support of preclinical drug discovery and development
  • Development of analytical methods for the characterization, quantification and purity assessment of oligonucleotides, nucleic acid monomers, and SNAs
  • Supporting oligonucleotide and SNA manufacturing and characterization at third party sites in support of clinical trials
  • Report writing to support business development, clinical development and securing intellectual property

Preference will be given to candidates with hands on experience in chemical synthesis, purification and characterization of DNA/RNA: running small to large scale automated DNA/RNA synthesizers, solid phase synthesis of oligonucleotides at various scales, chemical modifications of nucleosides and backbones, purification of oligonucleotides by anion-exchange and reverse-phase HPLC systems, analysis of oligonucleotides by various established methods. Working knowledge and understanding of nanoparticle or liposomal formulation of oligonucleotides and/or molecular biological and immunological techniques is an added advantage to work along with the team members. Candidates should have excellent organizational and reasoning skills along with independent experimental design and data analysis skills. Independence, resourcefulness, and ability to work cooperatively in a high performing multidisciplinary team environment are a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

This position has growth opportunities commensurate with job performance and company need, including:

  • Managing and mentoring of research associates and oversight of third party contract research organizations
  • Helping to set the company’s strategic direction in terms of disease area interest and therapeutics targets
  • Presentation of research findings via manuscripts, conferences and to potential partners

Nanoscientist

Candidates applying for this nanoscientist position should have a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related subject area. The roles and responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Prepare and characterize new SNA formulations in terms of their physical and chemical stability, manufacturability, and pharmacologic and pharmacodynamic activity in cell culture, skin and animal models
  • Development of analytical methods for the characterization, quantification and purity assessment of SNAs
  • Supporting SNA manufacturing and characterization at third party sites in support of clinical trials
  • Report writing to support business development, clinical development and securing intellectual property

Preference will be given to candidates with hands on experience with lipid formulations, liposomes, extrusion or homogenization based liposome synthesis, tangential flow filtration (TFF), and nanoparticle characterization using dynamic light scattering (DLS), anion exchange HPLC, size-exclusion chromatography, cryoTEM, and gel electrophoresis. Experience in biophysical and biochemical characterization of oligonucleotide nanoparticles is desirable. Working knowledge and understanding of oligonucleotide chemistry and synthesis and/or molecular biological and immunological techniques is an added advantage to work along with the team members. Candidates should have excellent organizational and reasoning skills along with independent experimental design and data analysis skills.
